It is not correct to postpone the elections at this juncture: YSRCP MP Sri Krishna Devarayulu

YSRCP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu on Tuesday said that it was inappropriate for State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to postpone the local body elections. Speaking in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the MP said that the Election Commissioner had not consulted the government before taking a decision. He said the Election Commission had taken a unilateral decision despite the election process in the state has been completed and all the arrangements were made.

"The state government of Andhra Pradesh has taken special measures to control coronavirus and the rate of disease is very low, " he said.

He asserted the spread would be under control for three to four weeks and the state government would make proper arrangements in the meantime.

He also said that the funds from 14th Finance Commission would be stalled due to postponement of local body elections.
