Jagananna Vasati Deevena: CM Jagan to launch the scheme today, 11.98 lakh students to be benefitted
As part of Navaratnalu, the Jagananna Vasati Deevena flagship program will start from Monday onwards. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the scheme in Vizianagaram district. It provides financial assistance for students accommodation and meals in the government-run hostels. "A total of 11.87 lakh ITI, Polytechnic, Degree, PG and Ph.D students will be benefited throughout the state, which is estimated to cost Rs 2,278 crore per year," the CM's office said in a statement.
According to the scheme, the student of ITI would be assisted with Rs.10,000 while Polytechnic students would get Rs.15,000 and Degree and PD students will be offered Rs. 20,000 under Hostel and Mess charges. This amount is credited to the accounts of mothers of wards in two instalments.
As part of this, every eligible student will be issued a smart card with a Unique Bar code. From the 25th of this month, the village volunteers will deliver them to the students at homes. The scheme is being applied to families whose annual income is up to Rs.2.5 lakh.
As part of the first instalment, ITI students would get Rs 5,000, polytechnic students would get Rs 7,500, degree and PG students will be deposited Rs 10,000 into their mother's accounts.
