Keep stadium clean, civic chief tells officials

Vijayawada: VMC Commissioner V Prasanna Venkatesh instructed the officials concerned to take measures to provide all facilities and maintain hygiene and cleanliness on the premises of Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium for the three-day AP Formation Day celebrations.

The Commissioner on Friday made a field level visited to MG Road, Badavapet, Vishalandhra Road, Devinagar, Sitarampuram, Prakasam Road and other places. He visited Indira Gandhi stadium and suggested to the officials to provide all facilities to the visitors who visit the premises on the three-day AP Formation Day celebrations.

He told the workers to maintain hygiene in the stadium surroundings and keep the temporary and permanent toilets clean and provide water facility. At Badavapet, on observing the silt and waste in the side canals, he ordered the officials to clear it and see that there is free flow in the side canals. Later, he visited Devinagar and Sitanagaram drainage pumping station and monitored the performance.

On coming to know that only five motors were in working condition out of the seven, the Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to prepare an estimate for the repairs and get the repairs done soon.

Furthermore, he said that no foul smell should emit from the pumping station creating inconvenience to the residents. Chief medical officer Dr K Arjun Rao, executive engineer ASN Prasad, health officer Dr Iqbal Hussain and others were present.
