KMC moves to free city from stray pigs

Kakinada: As per the directive of District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy, the city municipal administration started Operation Sanitation in the city on Thursday. As part of this programme, KMC commissioner K Ramesh and M HO Dr P Lakashmi Devi along with sanitation staff supervised work realting to the catching of stray pigs in the city.

The team paid a visit to Dummulapeta, Sajay Nagar, Port godowns and surrounding areas and caught 47 pigs and lifted them to the place allotted to those rearing pigs outside the city a few years ago. In this connection, the officials of the Municipal Sanitation wing made it clear that though they informed the pig rearers in advance to move the pigs to the allotted areas, they remained indifferent without taking any action. Hence we were forced to act, the health wing authorities clarified.
