Laparoscopy surgery performed on cancer patient in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Laparoscopy procedure was successfully performed on a 72-year-old patient, Subbayamma from Ongole suffering from cancer, said Dr A Vikram of Praveen Hospital.

He said that tests were conducted on her and chemo radiotherapy was given before performing laparoscopy procedure.

Dr Vikram said a team of six doctors performed abdominoperineal resection through Laparoscopy procedure and removed the cancer which took about six hours. He said that through laparoscopy procedure the patient recovered in three days and was discharged on the fourth day.

Praveen Hospital head Dr Praveen said that with the collective effort of experienced doctors and ICU team they could successfully perform laparoscopy procedure.
