LG Polymers shifts Styrene monomer gas from Visakhapatnam to South Korea

LG Polymers announced on Monday that it has transported styrene monomer inventory to the company's headquarters South Korea and that there is no styrene left at the plant located in Visakhapatnam.

The plant's managing director Jeong Sunkey said that the plant in collaboration with other institutions would devote its resources to analyse the cause of the gas leak on May 7. He further said the company work out ways to prevent its recurrence, extend assistance to the bereaved families. He further said that the plant's immediate focus is to provide assistance to the people near the plant and help them restore their lives as soon as possible.

Eleven days after the gas leak mishap that killed 12 persons and hospitalised hundreds of people living in the vicinity of the plant on May 7, the company issued a statement mentioning that it had begun the transportation of the rest of the styrene monomer from the plant in Visakhapatnam to South Korea. A team of technical experts from the company's headquarters Seoul has arrived at LG Polymers to take up relief measures.
