Machilipatnam Port construction works to begin in 2020: Minister Perni Nani

Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah aka Nani on Monday made clear that the state government is planning to start its works for construction of Machilipatnam Port project in Krishna district by early 2020.

Speaking at a meeting at Science Fair and Exhibition at Pedana in Krishna district, Nani said that project would be constructed at any cost. Three or four banks will reportedly grant loans to the tune of Rs 3,000 to 4,000 crore for the Port project, the minister added. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for development of Machilipatnam Port would be submitted to the state government by December 2019.

TDP chief and former CM Chandrababu Naidu had laid the foundation stone for the project in February 2019 with an estimate of Rs 12,000 crore and issued a contract to Navayuga. The YSRCP govt has cancelled the Navayuga contracts.

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has given the project to RITES and asked to submit the DPR for the project by December 2019,
