Maganti, Pullarao file nomination papers

Eluru: Sitting MP and TDP candidate for Eluru parliamentary constituency Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) filed his nomination papers here on Friday. He submitted the papers to District Collector and Returning Officer Praveen Kumar.

Jana Sena Party candidate Pentapati Pullarao also filed his nomination. The RO administered oath to the candidates and briefed them on the code of conduct. He informed the candidates that the verification of the papers will take place on March 26.

He asked the contestants to register their expenditure details in register. He reminded them that the poll expenditure limit is Rs 70 lakh. They should submit details of their election expenditure once in three days to the observer. This time, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to accommodate latest photo of the contesting candidate on the ballot paper.

The candidates are supposed to get clearance from the MCMC before sending campaign material for broadcast through electronic media. The EC would initiate action against the candidates under various sections if violation of code is noticed, he added. The RO handed over the booklets and other literature on Election Commission guidelines for better understanding of the contesting candidates.
