MP wants railway zone for AP

Eluru: MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) said that Andhra Pradesh Members of Parliament are pressurising the Centre to establish a Railway Zone at Visakhapatnam.He visited Eluru Railway Station on Friday and inspected the restrooms and reservation counter. He also inspected the children’s park and garden established in the station complex.

Talking to media, the MP said that if the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone was sanctioned, avenues for employment would be set up, besides all-round development of the State. He expressed confidence on the sanctioning of the railway zone.

While complimenting the railway officials for developing the Eluru Railway Station, he said that the station officials had displayed the Kolleru Lake that reflects the prominence of the West Godavari district, Dwaraka Tirumala Temple, Lace Park and other paintings in the station. “I would submit proposals to the railway minister to provide a lift in the railway station to benefit the old and the handicapped.” 

He said that he had requested the railway officials to construct railway bridges at Chebrole and Badampudi stations. He had submitted proposals to provide train facility to the upland area by constructing the Kovvuru -Bhadrachalam railway line. He suggested the government to consider the MPs opinions three months prior to introduction of the railway budget every year and include those proposals in the budget.

Railway Assistant Divisional Manager Subba Raju, Assistant Commercial Manager Kamalakara Rao, Railway Station Manager AV Satyanarayana Rao, Assitant Engineer (north) Abhiram, Chief Parcel Supervisor Sheikh Meera Hussain, Agriculture Marketing Committee Chairman Pujari Niranjan and Municipal Corporator Gavva Madhusudana Rao participated in the visit.
