Meet on SC/ST development programmes begins in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Prof LC Mallaiah of the Department of Economics, Dr BR Ambedkar Central University said that the Scheduled Casts and Scheduled Tribes community people are being benefited with the Central and State government welfare schemes.

He was participating as the chief guest at the inaugural of a two-day national seminar on 'An impact of development programmes for the social transformation of scheduled casts and scheduled tribes' organised by the commerce and management department of KBN College here on Friday.

With the guidelines given by Dr BR Ambedkar, Jagjeevanram, Jyotirao Phule and other intellectuals, the government implementing many welfare schemes to uplift the scheduled caste and tribe communities, he said.

Prof Dr Vinod Sen of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University explained that many development programmes are being implemented across the country for the uplift of scheduled caste and tribe communities. However, the result is not up to the expectation and there is a need to do more to benefit them.

Prof K Madhu Babu of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Prof B Nageswara Rao, college vice-principal, E Varaprasad, Dr Venubabu and others were present on the occasion.
