Vijayawada: Joint Collector Dr Krithika Sukla on Friday informed all the rice millers to lift the stocks from the purchasing centres on time. Addressing the rice millers' representatives at Collector camp office, she asked the millers to lift the paddy stocks from the purchase centres.

About 90,000 metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 750 farmers so far. About 60 per cent of payment was already credited to the farmers' accounts. She told the officials to coordinate with the millers to shift the paddy from the purchasing centres as per the allocation in time. Referring to weather report on low pressure in Bay of Bengal, she said paddy should be preserved from possible heavy rains during the next two days.

She warned that stern action will be taken, if there are any irregularities at the purchasing centres. She said that there was 47,000 tonnes stock in Jaggaiahpet and Hanuman Junction FCI godown and by May-end, there would be another 45,000 tonnes ready for storage, she added.
