Minister unhappy over HB colony inundation in Amalapuram

Amalapuram: Minister for Social Welfare Pinipe Viswaroop has expressed unhappiness over the functioning of the municipal department officials for not taking any initiative to avoid inundation of housing board colony and some other areas in the town during this rainy season.

He along with Municipal Commissioner KVRR Raju and other officials visited housing board colony here on Thursday and expressed concern over the condition of drains and inundation of that area.He questioned them why they are not clearing silt in the drains and directed them to take steps to clear the water by evening.

The Housing Board colony is having outlet problem and asked the commissioner to submit a report to combat the problem within 30 days. Later, he inspected the Vidyut colony and Savaram. He warned the municipal officials with stern action if they fails to sort out the problems as per schedule.

Deputy Executive Engineer K Appala Raju, former councillors Ch Srinu, M Srirama Murhti and A Gopala Krishna and others were present.
