Kurnool: SC ST BC Minority Mahila Ikya Vedika founder president Patnam Rajeshwari came down heavily on District Collector G Veera Panaiyan, Superintendent of Police Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli and DEO for not visiting government general hospital to console the nine-year-old rape victim in Yemmiganur.

Demanding immediate arrest of the accused and justice to the victim and her family members, she accompanied with other women leaders of Ikya Vedika staged a protest in front of Gandhi statue at Collectorate on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, Rajeshwari condemned the incident of raping a fourth-class student.

The rapist even tried to kill her by hitting her with a stone on her head, she said and demanded the police department to trace the culprit and punish him severely. They demanded financial support for family besides the government should take the responsibility of the victim's education.

She stated that the culprit should be punished stringently and take measures to not repeat such kind of heinous acts in future. Rayalaseema Mahila organisation president Shakuntalamma, Ikya Vedika district president Nandi Vijayalakshmi, student leaders Rangamuni Naidu, Eddu Penta Anji, Saraswathi Ramanamma, Mangamma, Munni, Mallamma and Lakshmi Devi Kasim Bee participated in the protest.
