Need to empower women stressed

Vijayawada: Women empowerment is possible through a multi dimensional development concept, said Naari Shakthi Women Empowerment Foundation founder and president Lavanya Kavuri. Addressing the media here on Sunday, Lavanya said women in India are deprived of their rights and stressed upon the need to develop the womenfolk socially, economically, financially and politically.

She said the foundation mainly stresses on educating the girl child in rural areas to make their living better. She said with the support of state and central governments and NGOs, NRIs, the foundation would collectively strive to make the project a success and carry forward.

Prof NK Goyul President of CMAI Asia, expressing his happiness over the association with the Naari Shakthi said the two sides are adopting villages to transform them as smart villages and trying to develop the women and their empowerment.

He said that the foundation would adopt nearly 40 villages in the first phase of development. Dr Harikrishna Maganti, Chairman of CMAI Europe Interface, said he along with a few NRI would extend their complete support for the Smart Women concept initiative by Naari Shakthi for women empowerment both through technology and European international support.

Valentina Mishra, founder of Manasu foundation for differently-abled children and an international beauty pageant, said that if one lady in the house is educated she will help the family to be more knowledgeable. Encouraging women and empowering women is good for the nation and will extend the support nationally and internationally, she added.
