Need to sensitize consumers on rights stressed

Vijayawada: Consumer Forum president R Madhava Rao has said consumers should be sensitised on their rights. He was chief guest at an awareness programme to mark World Consumers Day organised at Press Club here on Friday.

Madhava Rao said that consumers are facing a lot of problems these days. Consumer plays a key role in financial transaction and without consumer there is no growth.

He said that a few NGOs were organising programmes to educate the consumers on their rights and they would fight if there is any problem with the quality of the goods, service and others aspects.

He said that consumers are inclined towards Trusted Smart Products and most of the products are sold through digital marketing. However, there are a few genuine and a few fake digital marketing companies.

There are a few online fraud companies and they should be stopped. With false publicity, the consumers were being cheated and media should cooperate to put an end to it, he said and added that he would support the consumer to render justice.

All India Consumer Welfare Council Krishna district president DVL Padmavati said that 6 committee members will be appointed in 49 mandals to support the consumers.

High Court advocate Md Saleem, Rajesh Kumar, Krishna district vice-president YS Kishore, treasurer V Prashanth and others were present.
