Buried temple surfaces during sand quarrying

Nellore: An old Shaivite temple buried in the sand was surfaced when sand quarrying was taken up at Perumallapadu village in Chejarla Mandal.

An elderly person who noticed the parts of the temple inside the quarry and alerted the villagers. Sri Nageswara Swamy temple was buried in the sand about 7 decades ago.

As it surfaced, people started thronging the site. In the past, River Penna used to receive floods during rainy season and the temple was gradually covered with sand dunes.

Now, sanctum sanctorum, compound wall, and other structures have come out of sand and are visible. Officials haven't visited the temple till now for clarifications. during sand quarrying
