No voter slip treated as ID proof: Collector

Kakinada: Kartikeya Mishra, East Godavari District Collector and RO for Kakinada Parliamentary Constituency has said that no voter slip will be treated as identity proof for allowing voters to cast their votes.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of contesting candidates of Kakinada parliamentary constituency here on Tuesday, the Collector clarified that voter slips distributed to the voters will not be accepted as ID proof. He advised the poll agents to attend the polling stations at 5:30 am on the polling day as the mock poll will begin at 6 pm.

With regard to Kakinada parliamentary constituency, Collector said that 15,63,226 voters will cast their votes at 1,623 polling stations. In order to encourage 19,725 differently-abled voters to participate in elections, 953 wheelchairs and 913 facilitators are kept ready. All polling stations will be covered either by webcasting or videography. Three vehicles per candidate on polling day will be permitted, one each for contesting candidate, election agent and party workers.

The Collector suggested the voters to use my vote Q app developed by Election Commission (EC) to know the status of queue at the respective polling station. R Nanda Goel, observer who also attended the meeting requested the political parties and the candidates to cooperate in conducting polling peacefully duly following the guidelines of EC. MV Govinda Rajulu, DRO and representatives of contesting candidates attended.
