Nursing home seized over prenatal gender scanning in Chittoor district
Pileru: The PCPNDT Act committee has seized a nursing home over prenatal gender scanning at Pileru in Chittoor district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the committee member Dr. Rama Devi disclosed the details to the media. Upon receiving the information from the high-risk monitoring team that a married woman named Kavitha of Agraharam village admitted at Tirupati Ruia hospital due to miscarriage.
Over inquiring her family members, they said that the woman was admitted at Noble nursing home in Pileru where Dr. G Basha has given treatment for her abortion, as a result, her health condition declined, and she was referred to Tirupati Ruia.
As part of the investigation, a team headed by Deputy DHMO and PCPNDT committee member Dr Pujari Lokavardhan visited Noble Nursing home in Pileru.
During the visit, the team witnessed that the nursing home has performed prenatal gender scanning to a woman and confirmed girl baby in the womb.
With this, the PCPNDT committee has submitted a detail report to the District Collector. On the orders of the Collector, Pileru Tahsildar has seized the scanning center in the Nursing home. After the inquiry, the action will be taken against the Nursing home.
