Ongole: Census necessary to undertake development programs said Collector Pola Bhaskar

Ongole: The census operations would help in identifying the economic status of people which would further help the State government to undertake development programme, said District Collector Pola Bhaskar while addressing the officials of district and mandals at Prakasam Bhavan here on Wednesday.

He said that the 8th Census after the independence would commence from April to learn various details of the population including literacy rate, socio-economic conditions and others.

He told the officials to provide necessary training to the enumerators to avoid mistakes and to note the correct details. Enumerators should be honest in the collection of details in the field, he said and suggested that the teachers who work sincerely should be appointed for this purpose.

He suggested to the officials to appoint one enumerator for the population of 650 to 800 and one supervisor for every six enumerators.

Census Deputy Director Shakti Kumar said that the programme of house listing operation and national population register should be effectively implemented in the district. For the Census, Rs 5.2 lakh from Contingency Fund and Rs 5 lakh for infrastructure facilities would be available.
