Ongole: Denizens of Padmanjali Towers protest over quarantine center
Ongole: The families living in the surrounding areas of the quarantine center established at the Social Empowerment Centre in Ongole organised a protest at the Padmanjali Towers in the morning.
Speaking to the Hans India here on Tuesday, an advocate and resident in the area, Krishna Yadav said that the quarantine center is intended for breaking the chain of the infection, but the move to establish the center at this place won't serve the purpose. Instead, he said, that the children and old people, the most vulnerable and low immune people will face a threat.
He demanded the government to immediately shift the quarantine center to a building, where there are no houses or offices for a long distance.
A resident of Padmanjali Tower, Shaik Ramiza Bi said that they need to go in front of the quarantine center for every need. She questioned as to why the government was not caring for the health of nearly 50 families around the center when it is asking the public to take every need to protect from the deadly virus.
Another resident of the apartment, Srinivas said that there are a number of houses and hostels in the area. He said that the government was giving wide publicity in a way that no one should talk to others without any mask and do not come to the road without protective gear. But, he questioned as to how the people can live peacefully when they are forced to live beside the suspects of coronavirus. He demanded the government to immediately shift it from the Social Empowerment Building.
