Ongole: Prakasam University to be developed as education special university
Ongole: The government is planning to develop the Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam University as an education special university, announced the Officer on Special Duty Dr KVN Raju.
The OSD and his staff met Education Minister Dr Audimulapu Suresh in Ongole on Wednesday to thank him for taking the issues of the university to the Chief Minister and getting them resolved. The OSD announced that the Minister assured them to realise the dream of the Prakasam district people to have the university, very soon and informed that the recruitment of the staff will commence in a few days.
The OSD said that under the leadership of the District Collector as the university Vice-Chancellor, the Acharya Nagarjuna University PG Centre in Ongole is being upgraded as the Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam University and enhancing the already existing 10 courses to 20 PG courses, 8 diploma courses, and 2 four-year BA-B Ed and B Sc-B Ed integrated courses. He said that they have submitted the proposals of the budget for Rs 30 crores per annum for the 300 plus teaching and non-teaching staff to work in the university and also to run the organization as an education special university as per the intention of the government.
Raju explained that they are establishing a center for continuing education in the university to provide the opportunity to teachers from elementary education to degree college lecturers to upgrade their knowledge in languages, subjects, methodology and administrative skills. He said that the government has already sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs to prepare the DPR and conduct surveys to make it a special university in the country. He said that they are yet to submit the proposals to construct the required buildings with Rs 300 crore budget, to the government.
The OSD thanked the ministers Audimulapu Suresh, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, vice-chancellor Dr Pola Bhaskara, Santhanuthalapadu MLA TJR Sudhakara Babu for their keen interest and cooperation in developing the university. The ANU PG Center special officer Dr B Krishna, staff Dr Harsha Preetham Dev, Dr Vijaya, Dr Arun, Narasimha Rao, Prem Kumar and others also in the delegation that thanked the minister.
