Opposition misleading people on capital shifting: Kanna Babu
Guntur: Agriculture Minister K Kanna Babu said that the government did not made any announcement on shifting of Amaravati capital and alleged the Opposition leaders are making false propaganda against the government and misleading the people in this regard. He made it clear the government was not shifting the capital from Amaravati.
Addressing media here on Thursday, he said the government had set up some departments in Vijayawada, some in Guntur district and Secretariat at Velagapudi. He alleged that the earlier TDP government had diverted funds earmarked for subsidies to other purposes before the general elections.
He recalled that the government set up price stabilisation fund with Rs 3,000 crore and added the government planned to encourage raising of horticulture crops in 21-lakh acres from 17-lakh acres in the state.
He said mango exports increased to 2,000 tonnes and explained the steps taken by the government to encourage the agriculture and horticulture farmers. He said the government was committed to the welfare of farmers. Horticulture commissioner Chiranjeevi Chowdary was present.
