Police arrest thief, recover 25 mopeds

Ongole: The Prakasam district police arrested a habitual thief, who lifts TCS XL mopeds only, and recovered 25 vehicles worth Rs 6.25 lakh, announced the District Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal in a press meet on Tuesday evening.

Siddharth said that vigil was increased as the thefts of small vehicles were being reported at various places in the district. As per his orders the CCS DSP A Prasad Kumar, Ongole DSP T Radhesh Murali, Town I inspector TV Subbarao, Town I SI R Suman, CCS inspector P Parandhamaiah, CCS SI K Kamalakar, and CCS crime party put a focus on the vehicle thefts.

The SP announced that the police team arrested Uppala Purnachandra Rao on Tuesday afternoon at RTC Bus Stand while he is traveling on the vehicle he lifted somewhere. He said that the police found a dump of 25 vehicles after an inquiry and recovered them. He announced that Purnachandra Rao is involved in similar thefts since 2013 and served few terms in the jail.

The SP said that the owners are welcome to identify their vehicles and show the C Books and other proofs to get them back. He appreciated the team of policemen worked in arresting the thief.
