Poll observers participate in Ugadi fete
Kakinada: Telugu New Year Day, Sri Vikaranama Ugadi was celebrated here with traditional fervour, under the aegis of District Cultural Council on Saturday. Both general and expenditure observers, who came from different states on election duties to East Godavari, took part in this festival in traditional attire.
In this connection, the observers appealed to the public to exercise their franchise on April 11. The observers were served the Ugadi Pachadi. The cultural programmes on Telugu culture and tradition stood as special attraction.
The traditional blessings were given by vedic scholars followed 'panchanga sravanam' by Ramakrishnamma Siddanti. In this connection, Collector Kartikeya Mishra hoped that the district achieves prosperity and development in all fields in the Telugu New Year. He requested the public to participate actively in the polling.
In this connection, writers from different places in the district took part in 'Kavi sammalenam' giving due preference to voters' participation without getting influenced by any means in the coming elections.
