Prepare action plan for drinking water supply: CS directs District Collectors

Amaravati: Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha instructed the district Collectors to prepare an action plan for the ensuing summer to ensure drinking water supply to the people in their respective districts during coming summer.

Through a video conference from Secretariat here on Monday, he addressed the district officials He told the District Collectors that protected water should be supplied to the people through water tankers drinking water tanks.

He said that the four departments—Water Resources, Rural and Urban development and Medical and Health—should work in coordination to take care of people. "The district collectors should review the working of these departments every Monday," he said.

He stated that NAREGA works worth Rs. 8,549 crore were completed with the wage component of Rs 4,446 crore and material component of Rs. 4,102 crore. This year NREGA works worth Rs 9,000 crore were taken up. The construction of 1,359 Anganwadi buildings was completed and the 4,558 buildings were under construction, he said.

Fodder for cattle was developed in 59,910 acres at a cost of Rs 56.67 crore, he said. The chief secretary said that the Anganwadi workers should attend the election duty only on the particular dates and the rest of the days, they should attend their regular duties.
