Rajamahendravaram: WRD to conduct survey on 'Ava' lands in Korukonda

Rajamahendravaram: Hydrology wing of Water Resources Department (WRD) is conducting a survey in 'Ava' lands of Korukonda mandal to find out whether the lands will be marooned during floods or in rainy season.

as Opposition parties alleged that ava lands marooned many a time during flood and rainy season and not suitable for house sites.

With this, WRD earlier conducted a survey in the lands and submitted a report to the government that the lands will be submerged. Again, the department is conducting survey through its hydrology wing to submit a report.

Meanwhile at the instance of district administration, two civil engineering professors of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTUK) conducted a survey and submitted its report to the collector.

JNTUK professors conducted the survey basing on the information given by WRD and Survey of India's toposheets. WRD given details about the rainfall for last 30 years. JNTUK professors suggested a detailed survey and accordingly, the WRD conducting the survey.

A top official of WRD said the hydrology wing will submit its report in three days with full details whether the lands conducive for construction of houses or not.

MP Margani Bharat Ram said some opposition parties are trying to tarnish the image of the government alleging that the lands will be marooned. But, the lands never submerged. How can the government acquire lands if they are not conducive for house sites, he questioned.
