Rally organised to mark No Tobacco Day

Eluru: MLC and Eluru Government General Hospital development committee chairman Ramu Surya Rao said that to create better society everyone must be healthy. He flagged off the World No Tobacco Day awareness rally at Eluru Government general hospital on Friday to mark the World No Tobacco Day.

Speaking on this occasion, Ramu said that consumption of tobacco products would cause deadly diseases like cancer and Tuberculosis (TB).

He further said that smokers are not only spoiling their lives and health but they are causing serious damage to other people surrounding them. He suggested everyone to avoid tobacco products.

Ramu Surya Rao congratulated the YCP for its landslide victory in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He hoped that the newly formed government would sanction new welfare and development activates for the hospital.

Later, DCHS Dr Shankara Rao said that every year 80 Lakh people are losing their lives due to the consumption of tobacco products. He expressed his concern on the women from rural areas who are consuming the tobacco products and they may fall prey to serious diseases. DEO C V Renuka, Hospital Superintendent Dr Mohan Rao, Dr Rathna Kumari, and other hospital staff were present.
