Rally to protest against rape held
Vijayawada: About 100 students of Computer Science Engineering department, management and faculty members of Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET) participated in the rally on Tuesday organised in protest against the rape and murder of a nine-month-old baby at Hanamkonda, Warangal district of Telangana state.
The students took out a rally from college to Government Polytechnic. They displayed placards, banners and raised slogans 'stop attacks and rapes on children and women and save the country'.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Fr Francis Xavier, director of the institute said, "In this developing country we find more victims are subject to sexual harassment which is not good for the development of the nation.
There are many activists fighting for the victims for women safety but the attacks are still on. Stern action should be taken on the culprits who forget the human values and culture and indulge in such crimes by strengthening law."
Fr Chiranjeevi, Fr Anand, Principal Dr O Mahesh, HoD of CSE department A Srinivas Rao, NSS coordinator A Rajesh, students and others participated in the rally.
