Ramesh hospital treats Cambodian with Heart problem
Vijayawada: A 50-year-old Cambodian national, Chiya Sambat, suffering from congenital heart disease, underwent Intracardiac Repair operation successfully at Ramesh Hospitals here.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Dr Benedict Raj said that the patient Chiya Sambat was born with heart defect and also problem with lungs. The operation was complicated and the surgical team consisting of Dr Srinath Reddy and Dr Nalluri Rhazane successfully conducted the surgery.
Dr Srinath Reddy, chief of paediatric cardiologist said that so far 1,500 device closures and heart surgeries have been conducted for newly born babies and elders successfully. Dr P Ramesh Babu, chief cardiologist and managing director of Ramesh Hospitals said that 15 heart operations and device closure procedures have been conducted for the patients from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Libya, Pakistan, Cambodia and Iraq.
The medical facilities and good hospitals for heart surgeries are not available in Cambodia and the patient came to know about Ramesh Hospitals in Andhra Pradesh. The patient along with his wife and niece came to Ramesh Hospital to undergo the heart surgery.
He further said that a few rare and complex heart surgeries are being successfully done here on par with developed countries. He said that Vijayawada would be a chosen medical tourism destination, if there was international flight connectivity, said Dr Ramesh. Dr Jyothi Prakash Reddy, Dr Vasudev, Senior Anesthesiologist Dr P Srinivasa Rao and management consultant Dr MC Das were present.
