Rangoli competition helps educate voters in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: District Collector Md Imtiaz said that for ethical governance in democracy, one should cast their vote to elect good leader.

As part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme on Tuesday, the Collector accompanied by Joint Collector Krithika Shukla participated as the chief guests at a district-level Rangoli competition held at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here.

Addressing the gathering, he said that India is the world's biggest democracy and for every five years the people elect their leaders by casting their valuable vote. He said that in the coming elections the voters should elect a good leader who could lead the government with ethics to build a good society.

He said that right from student age one should have awareness on voting and all the students who attained 18 years of age should register their vote and use it to elect their leader.

He said that to create awareness on voter registration, essay-writing and elocution competitions were being held at colleges besides a campaign vehicle going to all places in the district.

Krithika Shukla said through SVEEP programme they are sensitising the voters on voter registration and casting vote.

She said that as a citizen of India one should vote without the influence of caste, creed, religion, language, and region.

She administered oath to the gathering to cast their vote in the coming elections.
