Restrict Amma Vodi to government schools: APTF

Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Teachers' Federation secretary P Pandu Ranga Rao demanded that the State government restrict implementation of 'Amma Vodi' scheme only to government schools.

An education seminar was held at NGO Home here on Saturday. MLC Pakalapati Raghu Varma was the chief guest at the event. Thousands of posts have been cancelled due to the closure of schools, he lamented.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Project Director B Vijaya Bhaskar said that the teaching should be done in a simple way in the classroom and teachers should update their knowledge in their respective subjects, as changes were taking place constantly. Outdated knowledge was of no use, he added.

District APTF Council unanimously elected a new committee at the meeting. District president N Philip Raju, vice-president G Durga Prasad, Siraj, Sheikh Baharejia and B Satya Prasad and general secretary K Subrahmanyam, K Ramachandram, Sathyanarayana, N Srinivas, K Sujatha and G Samson were elected.
