Safety Driving Education Centre inaugurated in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Minister for Transport Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) inaugurated the Safety Driving Education Centre at the Deputy Transport Commissioner Office here on Thursday.
The Minister was accompanied by Civil Supplies Minister Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, Government Whip Samineni Udaya Bhanu, MLA Malladi Vishnu, Kapu Corporation chairman, MLA J Raju and Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Pvt Ltd vice-president Prabhu Nagaraju.
The centre will be jointly organised by AP Transport Department and Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Pvt Ltd. Addressing the gathering, Nani appreciated the Honda company and the officials of DTC for taking the initiative of training the vehicle drivers to obtain an LLR. All the motorists should know about road safety and highway safety rules before obtaining a license.
He told the officials not to issue a LLR if the motorists do not undergo safety training. He stressed that parents should not allow children below 18 years to drive motorcycles. He said that another Safety Driving Education Centre would be established at Visakhapatnam. On an average, 100 people will get training in safety driving per day.
