SC/ST grievances to be solved in time-bound manner in Kakinada

Kakinada: SC, ST Commission chairman Karem Sivaji said that the commission would sort out the grievances of SCs and STs with a time-bound manner. He received petitions from SCs and STs here on Friday.

He said that the commission had strived hard for providing employment to the family members of those victims in murder cases under SC ST Act. He said it sorted the all the cases that had been pending for the past 25 years and provided employment to the victims in 13 districts. However, he said that due to some technical reasons, the victims in rape cases had not yet been given postings and these issues would be sorted out soon.

Sivaji said that the commission took steps for applying rule of reservations in all universities. Seven per cent reservations should be implemented for STs in admissions and employment as per University Grants Commission, he said. He suggested to the revenue officials to issue certificates to SC and ST students well before the start of admissions.

He said that the victims of head tonsuring incident at Venkatayapalem would be provided with financial assistance. Social welfare department officials K V V Satyanarayana, B Nagendra Prasad and others were present.
