SFI demands release of scholarship arrears in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The Students Federation of India (SFI) demanded that the government release all arrears of scholarships and the fee reimbursement immediately. The leaders of SFI staged a protest at Lenin centre here on Thursday. They also demanded that the government implement the midday meal scheme for the Intermediate students.
Speaking to the media, SFI district president N Koti alleged that the government had stopped the scholarships and the fee reimbursement from 2014-15 to 2017-18. The government has to release Rs 956.34 crore for fee reimbursement and Rs 155.84 crore for the scholarships in the state. Poor and middle class students are facing several problems because of non-release of funds.
He threatened to intensify the agitation, if the government failed to concede to the demands of the students. SFI district vice-president Ch Sumant, joint secretary O Yesubabu, leaders Sowjanya, Vamsi, Yesebu and others were present.
