The weather department has said that the southwest monsoon has reached Andhra Pradesh. It revealed that the monsoon have hit Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Commissioner Kannababu said that heavy rains are likely in coastal Andhra due to the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), low pressure in the east-central Bay of Bengal will strengthen while heading from westward to the northwest in the next 48 hours.

The effect of this is that heavy rains are likely to be widespread elsewhere in coastal areas and Rayalaseema for next two days

Commissioner Kannababu pointed out that the sea would be hazardous as the winds were blowing 40-50 km per hour along the coast. He said the people of the low lying areas should be vigilant and take appropriate precautions. Thunderbolts are most likely occur with lightning over the next three days. Farmers, especially farm labourers and fishermen, are advised to go to safe places immediately.
