Eluru: West Godavari District Superintendent of Police Navdeep Singh Grewal has announced that special teams have been formed to arrest former MLA and TDP leader Chintamaneni Prabhakar.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, the Superintendent of Police said that departmental action would be taken against the police department officials who had intentionally delayed action against the former MLA though 50 cases were registered against him so far.

He condemned the allegation that the police were foisting false cases against the Ex-MLA out of political vendetta. Cases were booked against him following complaints from two ASIs on his harsh behaviour and various complaints by other victims. There is no point in police intentionally registering cases against Prabhakar, the SP added.

Grewal made it clear that the police have been probing cases against Prabhakar as per the law of the land. He said a person by name Joseph complained to Eluru DSP on Wednesday night alleging that Prabhakar's men were threatening him. If necessary, the police would provide protection to Joseph. The probe in cases would be conducted on a fast pace, the SP added.
