Srikakulam: Hours of darshan restricted at different temples

Srikakulam: Coronavirus is continuing to hit all areas and fields across the district. One after another all fields are witnessing its impact and stopping activities. In the wake of the outbreak of corona, educational institutions have been closed and cinema halls cancelled shows. Temples restricted regular darshan and prayers and now going to stop all activities from March 21 (Saturday onwards).

Courts also stopped their regular works and only attending to urgent cases. Food and transport both are badly hit by the corona as people are postponing their tours and trips. Consumption of non-vegetarian food also reduced and hotels also going to close in Srikakulam city and other areas. Transport department officials asked people not to book slots for driving licences and registrations as these services are going to stop for more than a week in the wake of corona.

Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) Dr Vaddi Sundar asked people to postpone their schedule to get licences and registrations till coronavirus subsides.

AP State Public Transport Department (APSPTD) launched massive preventive measures at its bus stations and depots. Occupancy rates also reduced drastically for the APSPTD in the wake of corona menace as people are not interested in taking up journeys. District Medical and Health Department officials have identified total 262 persons across the district who recently returned from different foreign countries. The officials asked them not to move out of their homes in the wake of corona. "We have appointed two rescue teams with 40 policemen to help patients suffering from corona symptoms and also to create awareness among people on preventive measures as well as to assist health and revenue officials," said SP R N Ammi Reddy.

State Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram asked people not to visit his office to explain their problems and assured to speak to them over phone. Another ruling party MLA and former Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao also postponed his all official and non-official activities and asked people not to visit his office. He also appealed to people not to conduct massive activities. District collector J Nivas requested people to postpone their functions for some days. Migrated labour who settled in different parts across the State and nation from Srikakulam district are returning to their native places as works stopped there in the wake of corona.
