Ongole: Everyone should work to keep the district at the top position in the Swachh Sarvekshan- 2021, said the collector Dr Pola Bhaskara.

He flagged off the Swachh Sarvekshan publicity vehicle for rural areas, arranged by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation department from the collectorate on Wednesday.

The collector said that everyone should feel that it is their responsibility to keep the village hygiene and clean as part of keeping their own personal hygiene. He said that the Swachh Rath campaign will be held for two months, up to February 13, 2021, and the vehicle would create awareness on the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in three villages every day.

He said that as part of the campaign, a short film made by the Swachh Andhra Corporation will be screened at the villages to create awareness among the public on the use of toilets to make the village as ODF free village, solid-liquid waste management, plastic-free living, plastic waste control, waste-free sramadan along with measures should be taken to not fall prey to Covid-19.

The RWS in-charge SE Mardhan Vali, ZP deputy CEO Sai Kumari, DPO Narayana Reddy, staff from RWS, panchayat raj departments also participated in the programme.
