Upcoming elections crucial to the country: Suravaram
Vijayawada: CPI national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy said that the present elections are crucial to the country. Taking part in a Meet-the-Press programme here on Friday, he said that there would be no election in near future, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is re-elected now.
He said that the elections are important to all the parties in the country. The country and political parties faced several challenges during the last five years led by the BJP government with RSS ideology, he said.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to fulfill his promise to create two crore jobs. The government did not even create one crore jobs while the government could not regulate diesel and petrol prices. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister took several steps to benefit several industrialists, he said.
Suravaram alleged that the BJP government filed police cases against the Dalits in the name of cow protection. The assaults against Dalits increased during the last five years, he pointed out.There is a possibility to establish a front with 23 parties at national level against the NDA, he said and pointed out that the BJP formed a front with 40 parties.
He said that the Left parties have created a platform with various political parties to fight against the BJP. He said that the country needs secular government instead of the BJP government. He wondered as to how the BJP leadership was campaigning against the Opposition leaders terming them as anti-nationalists.
Reacting on the State politics, he said that the TDP candidates were being attacked in various forms including IT raids in the State which is not good in a democracy.
