Anantapur: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri and CPI General Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy were guests of honour at the centenary birth anniversary celebrations of comrade Neelam Rajasekhara Reddy at the Lalitha kala Parishath here on Monday.

Addressing the participants, Sitaram Yechuri vowed to bring down the BJP government at the Centre with the help of like-minded secular forces.  He described the BJP rule as reflecting an undeclared emergency rule. The communal government had been systematically eroding all the democratic institutions of repute including the judiciary, education and the Parliament.

The demonetisation and the GST had landed the economy in shambles. Modi promised to create 2 crore jobs every year but instead of creating jobs were reducing existing jobs. The BJP is trying to divert people's attention from its failures. Sitaram alleged the BJP had been saffronising all public institutions.

Referring to the propaganda that there is no alternative to BJP, the CPM leader said that an alternative will be born based on principles and not person-centric leader.

Suravaram Sudhakar accused the ruling BJP of working in tandem with corporate houses. The Dalits and minorities have no security and safety under the Modi rule. In the name of preventing cow slaughter, 33 persons were killed by religious fanatics out of whom 25 people were Muslims. CPI AP secretary K Ramakrishna was also present. CPI district secretary Jagadish presided over the celebrations.
