Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) president K Bhanu Murthy and general secretary P Panduranga Varaprasada Rao demanded the State government to immediate scrap the Contributory Pension Scheme as assured before the polls and restore the old pension scheme.

Addressing the media at the APTF office here on Tuesday, the leaders said that the State government had failed to fulfill the promises it made during the elections. They said the State government is also enhancing the term of the 11th PRC and not releasing the DA arrears.

Stating that the APTF decided to stage massive dharna on Thursday at the Dharna Chowk, they appealed to the teachers to participate in it in large numbers. They felt the government schools would be weakened if the 'Amma Vodi' scheme was implemented to the private schools also. They said the APTF has decided to continue the fight against the policies of the Government.
