Vijayawada: Arunaparayana committee celebrates Radhasapthami
Vijayawada: Radhasapthami is an auspicious festival celebrated by Hindus and it is dedicated to Lord Suryanarayana. This will come during the Sun changing the direction from the southeast to the northeast. This is being observed for the last 37 years by the "Arunaparayana committee" under the guidance of Pasumarthy Kameswara Sharma, a noted astrologer and philosophical person in the city at Vijayeswaraswamy temple on the hillock of Indrakeeladri.
According to Hindu mythology, on Saptami, the Surya was born to sage Kashyapa and Adithi. The sun planet is the center of all nine planets and all of them are in the orbit around the sun and that was also confirmed by the modern scientists.
Kameswara Sarma said that people should worship Surya because Surya is called as "Aarogya and Aishwarya Pradatha" and if Surya is worshipped early in the morning while fresh sunrays emerge, it is believed and also proven that exposure to fresh sunrays will refresh energy, purify the mind and body. He also suggested the devotees to do 'suryanamaskaras' early in the morning when sunrays are fresh to get benefits out of exposed to early morning sun.
Kameswara Sharma said that our Vedas provided us with sthothras like 'Aditya Hridayam', 'Surya Ashtakam', etc and reciting them will bring lot of benefits to people in terms health, wealth and success. Sarma said that this was initially advised to Lord Rama by sage Agasthya to worship Surya to get success in the war against Ravana. He also stressed that is the reason the 'Aruna Prashna', one of the powerful chanting associated with praying to Surya, was started in the holy premises of Vijayeswaraswamy temple on the top of Indrakeeladri hill.
