Vijayawada: Complex heart surgery performed successfully at Sentini Hospital

Vijayawada: Heart failure patients were treated on time by performing a complex heart surgery at Sentini Hospital and could get a new lease of life, said chief cardiologist PV Sivaprasad.

Addressing the media here on Friday, he said that Sai Sangeeta, a pregnant woman, was brought to the hospital with heart failure complaint at the time of delivery. The aortic valve was completely closed and due to fluid in lungs she could not even breathe, said the doctor.

She was kept on ventilator and balloon heart valve surgery was performed on her and through Caesarean section baby was delivered successfully. The doctor said that they have performed two surgeries of heart failure in a week successfully.

He said that four percent of pregnant women are prone to such type of problems and pregnant women should consult the doctor regularly till delivery. Gynaecologist Padmaja, Dr Lava Kumar, hospital managing director Dr M Padma and others were present.
