Vijayawada: Free eye check-up camp held for IIIT students

Vijayawada: About 1,000 people attended a free eye check-up camp conducted for the students of IIIT Nuzvid by Helping Hand NGO in association with Aswini Foundation on the college campus on Sunday. Students, staff and others underwent an eye check-up in the camp.

A 15-member team which includes six ophthalmologists and support staff took part in the eye check up camp. Aswini Foundation chairman P Ramesh appealed to the students of IIIT to utilise the opportunity. Medicines and spectacles were given to the students on the occasion. He hailed the efforts of Helping Hand for their service to society.

Helping Hand president Dr N Babu said that apart from college students, a good number of outsiders came for the eye-check up at the camp and said that they have organised the camp to mark completion of 10 years of organisation.

He said that out of 1,000 people who had attended the camp 500 were given spectacles. He said that the camp will be continued on December 15 (Sunday). Helping Hand vice-president B Pavani, general secretary DVV Venugopal, treasurer U Vijayasree, IIIT Nuzvid director, staff and others were present.
