Vijayawada: IIIT students win first prize in FGPA
Vijayawada: The students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Nuzvid (IIIT) have bagged the first and fourth prizes in the world Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design contest, said the IIIT Nuzvid Campus director Prof D Surya Chandra Rao on Thursday.
He said FPGA-2019 is a worldwide competition in Artificial Intelligence held to show them how Intel FPGA is used to make edge devices smarter jointly conducted by Intel, Terasic, Digikei and ISSI.
For this competition, the world is divided into four regions, viz, Asia-Pacific- Japan region, North and South America, Greater China and Europe, Middle East and Africa region. About 255 projects were received worldwide in which 71 are from Asia-Pacific-Japan Region.
He said RGUKT students bagged first prize Golden Award for Autonomous Car Project and 4th prize Iron Award for Digital Farming. The first three place winners are invited to China to participate in the Grand Finale which is going to be held from December 9 to 11 at Tianjin, China.
The project which received the first prize was Object Detection, Lane Detection, Distance Measurement from the object, Path Planning, Obstacle Overtaking, Quick Decision etc.
The students who won the Golden Award are Md Sameer Baig (E4, ECE), Y John Paul (E4, ECE) and G Siva Nagaraju (E3, ECE). Perika Shyam, Asst Prof in ECE is accompanying the students as Project Adviser. The winner in the Grand Finale will be awarded $5,000.
On the occasion, the Chancellor of RGUKT Prof KC Reddy, the In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Hema Chandra Reddy, Director CETLS Prof SSSV Gopala Raju appreciated the students.
