Villages, Agriculture fields inundate in flood waters
Guntur: Following heavy discharges from the Pulichintala Project, low-lying areas in Pulichntala, Regulagadda, Govindapuram and Kollur villages in Bellamkonda and Machavaram mandals were sub-merged. Residents of these villages were shifted to rehabilitation colonies.
Similarly, flood water inundated agriculture fields in Bellamkonda and Kolluru where agriculture fields in thousands of acres wereinundated. Flood water entered into Kanchubodutanda, Jadapalletanda villages of Achampeta mandal of Guntur district. Road connectivity was cut off to Bodhanam, Pulichintala, Chityala, Gopalapuram villages.
Agriculture fields sub-merged in Gopalapuram, Emmajigudem, Bodhanam villages, following heavy discharge of flood water from the Pulichintala Project. According to Irrigation officials, at present,5.86-lakh cusecs are released from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir to Pulichintala Project and 21- crest gates of the Pulichintala Project were lifted.
At present 19-tmc feet level water is available in the reservoir. Meanwhile revenue officials warned that residents of island villages in Kollipara,Kolluru mandals of Tenali revenue division to go to safer places. In case of need, the officials decided to shift the people to safer places.
Vemuru MLA Meruga Nagarjuna, Tenali revenue divisional officer Syam Prasad, DSP Sri Lakshmi visited the island villages and created awareness to the people and asked them go to safer places.
