Visakhapatnam: Diesel Loco Shed adds two more tools to prevent spread of corona
Visakhapatnam: To combat the spread of pandemic, Diesel Loco Shed (DLS) added two more inventions to the list as it developed ultra-violet ray operated tool and paper sanitiser equipment.
Diesel Loco Shed has developed ultra-violet ray operated tool sanitiser equipment to sanitise tools and implements used by the staff in the shed's shift tool room. It is the first shed to use such an equipment in East Coast Railway. It contains a 15 watt germicidal ultraviolet-C (UVC) lamp which is capable of killing most viruses and airborne bacteria in just about 10 seconds.
Paper sanitiser
Another invention of the DLS is UVC operated paper sanitiser equipment, to sanitise papers received by dispatch clerks, who usually collect various documents from different departments, before circulating them to other sections.
The box has a drawer, in which all documents, papers and letters can be placed for sanitisation. It gets sanitised in 10 seconds.
According to Divisional Regional Manager, Waltair Division, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, these innovative devices help reduce the risk of transmission of viruses and works as an effective preventive measure to guard against coronavirus infection.
Earlier, sanitising tunnel, leg operated hand wash booths, sensor-based hand sanitiser dispensers have been developed by the DLS. Recently, the shed also launched fabricated ultra-violet radiation-based disinfection sanitisers for currency notes.
