Visakhapatnam: First SRS surgery performed in city

Visakhapatnam: The first Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS) was done in the city by Pradeep Bhaskar at Health Care Global Cancer Centre. It was done using true beam instrument. This instrument is installed in Andhra Pradesh for the first time.

However, the procedure is also covered under Arogya Shree scheme. Treatment planning was done by a team using ACUROS-XB 13.6-2.3 calculation algorithm. After plan evaluation and approval, a patient specific QA was done and on the day of treatment after giving pre-medication to the patient, treatment was executed on Varian True Beam Linear Accelerator.
