Visakhapatnam: Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Ltd has reduced its power transmission and distribution losses to 6.64 per cent, the company's Chairman and Managing Director S Nagalakshmi said. Similarly, the company has achieved a satisfactory level of 92.44 per cent from consumers by using toll-free number 1912, resolving consumers' grievances, adopting effective monitoring mechanisms, including social media platforms.

APEPDCL is providing transparent service to the consumers by setting up compliant boxes in all offices to enable consumers to drop in their complaints. Further, the CMD said the company was facilitating 24/7 electricity to the consumers in addition to nine-hour-long free power supply to the agriculture during the day time.

As part of the 'Power for All' programme, an amount of Rs 282.98 crore has been expended for providing power transformers, distribution transformers, strengthening of network lines and constructions of 36 substations for supplying of uninterrupted quality power to consumers.

In Visakhapatnam city, the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project (APDRP) has undertaken underground cabling with an amount of Rs 719.98 crore by interlocking 23 (33/11 KV) substations near the sea cost under component-I. The cabling system will be taken up after the lockdown.

Nagalakshmi said the rules for the recruitment of 2,416 posts of energy assistants (Junior Line Men Grade-2) at the behest of the State government were followed in the most transparent and efficient manner. It is already assured that there will be no shortage of power supply even though the peak demand has reached 3,425 MW.

Despite challenges due to lockdown period, the company's staff and executives are working relentlessly to provide 24x7 power supply to consumers, she added.
