Visually-challenged casts his vote
Visakhapatnam: G Sudhakar, a visually-challenged person, came to cast his vote at Madhurawada, Chandrampalem High School. Assisted by volunteers and officers who were on election duty, Sudhakar said he felt comfortable to operate the EVM.
A first-time voter, the resident of Marikavalasa, said the Braille-script to identify the symbols of party came in handy. He said he was also interested in politics and has a message to convey. "If I could come all the way from my neighbourhood to cast my vote, I don't think it should be an uphill task to anyone else," he says.
He also opined that the visually-challenged should be given an opportunity to contest as candidates. "Only a person who knows our difficulty could relate to us well," he says after exercising his franchise.
